Friends till the End

***September is my birthday month. In honor of that each day up until my birthday I will be sharing a picture of when I was younger. Along with that photo, I will attach something I would write to my younger self.  If you are just joining in  Part 1 Part 2 Part 3 Part 4 Part 5 Part 6

This year you enter High school. This is kind of an awkward time. The friends you grew up with in elementary school will find a new pack of friends. You really don’t know how to process this.

You find yourself with a new crowd. Most people know you. You don’t really have a click per say but find yourself more of a social butterfly going from group to group.

As high school goes on you will find that you don’t always get asked to hang out. You don’t get asked to go to parties. This kind of bothers you. Well Donna, don’t let it .You see, the kids in high school that are doing more grown up things eventually burn out. You must realize that most of the people you know in high school you won’t see after you graduate. The ones you do keep in contact with are the ones that matter most to you.

These are the years that you learn who your real friends are. You have a good group of them. It is important to choose good friends. Friends help shape who you are. Good friends respect your beliefs and ideas, and you respect theirs. Good friends inspire you to be better.  You have a circle of intelligent, and amazing friends. Girls who care more about their studies than the latest trends. This doesn’t make you guys the most “popular” but you don’t care. When you are older and look back you will be honored to call them your friends. Time will pass and you will lose contact with some of them. In time you will reconnect and reminisce. You’ll attend their weddings, and watch babies grow in their bellies. You’ll meet their husbands and think “wow I couldn’t have seen them with anyone else. This person is perfect for them.”

So don’t worry about being in with the “In” crowd. That isn’t important. After high school none of that matters.  One day the people that made fun of you, will tell people how they met you.
